FAQs

Here are just a few questions we get each year regarding our league.

Do girls participate in Little League baseball?
Absolutely! Little League is for boys and girls from ages 5 to 16. We welcome all young players eager to learn and play the game of baseball. Last year in UC Little League, more girls participated at the T-Ball level than in any other level.

My child is a first-time player. What equipment will I need to buy in order for him/her to play?
UC Little League provides most of the equipment need to play including batting helmets, bats, balls, baseball jersey and cap. Pants, mitt and cleats must be supplied by the player. Players in T-Ball are not required to wear baseball pants and cleats. For all players, an athletic supporter (hard cup for males, soft cup for females) is highly recommended.

What is the time commitment?
Managers typically hold one or two practices per week with games on Saturday. After daylight saving time begins, games are scheduled twice a week, one game during the week(M-F) and one game on Saturday.

If I sign my son or daughter up, can you guarantee he will be on his best friend's team?
Although we try very hard to satisfy these types of requests, we cannot guarantee it. Players at the T-Ball and CAPS level may request to be on a friend’s team. Every effort will be made to satisfy these requests, however, there are no guarantees. In addition, since players in the Minor division and above are drafted, no requests of this type can be considered.

How long does the baseball season last?
The season begins March 7, 2009 and goes through mid-June 2009. If your son or daughter is on a Minor division team or above and their team wins the Division, the season could be slightly longer due to tournament play.

Will my son or daughter get to keep their uniform?
Yes, all players keep their regular season jerseys and caps at the end of the season. All Star Uniforms (shirt, hat and belt) are provided by the UCLL and all, but the hat must be returned following the All Star Tournament.
